Principal/Parent Forum - The second Principal/Parent Forum is scheduled for this Tuesday, February 21 at 6:30 pm in the church. Principal Glen Kuck from St. Paul Lutheran School in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago and Principal Lois Stewart from St. John's Country Club Hills will be our guest speakers. St. Paul - Austin has operated a multi-grade school for more than 20 years and St. John's - Country Club Hills began operating a multi-grade classroom this past school year. Principals Kuck and Stewart have agreed to share their experiences with our St. Paul's parents. They will also take questions after their presentations.
Open House– Our next open house is this Thursday, February 23, 2012 from 4:00pm-8:00pm. Please share this date with anyone you know that is looking for a school. Mr. Green is always willing to give tours to interested families.
Early Enrollment 2012/2013 School Year- The enrollment fee has increased to $275 per child for the 2012/2013 School year. Please take advantage of our early enrollment between February 15, 2012 and March 15, 2012 and receive a discounted enrollment fee of $200.00 per child. All enrollment fees are non- refundable. If each family refers one new family to St. Paul's we will easily reach our target number of 150 students which would allow BOCE to ask Church Council and Voters' to reconsider the decision of moving to multi-grade classrooms.
Wednesday Worship Services- Please note, this coming week we will begin Lenten worship services starting with Ash Wednesday on February 22nd through February 28th. There will be services at 2:00pm and 7:00pm. There will be NO Monday night worship service.
PTL Chili Cook Off- St. Paul’s Lutheran School Chili cook-off will be held in our school gym on Saturday, February 25th. Ticket prices are as follows: 8 Bowls for $10.00, 4 Bowls for $5.00.Each Extra Bowl $1.00. Tickets will be sold during coffee hour on February 19th or in the School Office. All proceeds will go to supporting St. Paul’s Lutheran School activities.
Academic Bowl– The annual Academic Bowl at Luther East High School in Lansing is scheduled for Saturday, March 17, 2012. It runs from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and any student in grades 5 through 8 may participate. Areas of competition include science, speech, art, composition, and Quiz Bowl. Four students from 5th and 6th grades and four from 7th and 8th grades can compete in each of the areas, with eight from each section competing in the Quiz Bowl. Students who want to submit projects in the Art and/or Composition Competition don’t need to attend on March 17th, but will need to give their submissions to Mrs. Septeowski by March 1st. Please check with Mrs. Septeowski for requirements in Art and in Composition.
In order for us to be competitive in the Quiz Bowl, we will be having practice sessions on Thursdays after school until 4:00 in the 7th grade room. I would encourage students who are interested in being chosen for our teams and who are committed to attending on March 17th participate on these Thursdays after school. Pennies for Patients - St. Paul's is proud to participate in the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Program Pennies for Patients. Information regarding this program will be sent home on Monday. Our goal is to raise at least $500.00 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The classroom that raises the most money will receive a Pizza lunch.
Spring Picture Day - Save the date, Wednesday, March 14th, will be the date for Inter-State Studio to come back for a spring picture session. This is an optional program. All students will have their picture taken and then a composite will be sent home. You may then decide if you would like to order. Sibling pictures may also be taken! Seasonal backgrounds and will be used as well. There will be no retake date for this session. More information will be sent home next month.
School Musical - Please mark your calendars for Thursday, March 8th! That is the date for our spring musical. This year our Pre-K through 4th grade will be singing and dancing in “God Bless the USA.” Invite all of your family and friends!
Boys Basketball Uniforms- The boys basketball season has concluded. Please turn your uniforms in to the school office or to Mr. Strecker as soon as possible.
Band Make-Up Days- Mrs. Garcia has scheduled 2 band make-up days for the days she was absent. The first make-up lesson will be on Friday, March 9th and the second will be on Friday, March 23rd. Please make these dates on your calendar and remember to bring your instruments!
St. Paul’s Yard Signs- Display your school pride with a yard sign promoting our school! Please call or stop by the office to reserve yours.
Boundaries with Kids - The Boundaries with Kids workshop has been re-scheduled for March 15th. We hope you can join us then!
